Description
Tetracycline Actavis belongs to a group of medicines called tetracycline antibiotics. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that stops the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and destroys them in high doses.
Tetracycline Actavis is used to treat a large number of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms:
respiratory infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis and whooping cough;
uncomplicated urinary tract infections;
sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis;
skin infections such as acne;
eye infections such as conjunctivitis;
rickettsial infections such as Ku fever or tick fever;
other infections such as psittacosis, brucellosis, plague, cholera, borreliosis, tularemia, foot-and-mouth disease, anthrax, actinomycosis, melioidosis and acute intestinal amoebiasis (in addition to anti-amoebiasis therapy).
Tetracycline is an alternative treatment for leptospirosis, gas gangrene and tetanus.
General infections: 1 capsule (250 mg) every 6 hours, you may be prescribed 2 capsules (500 mg) initially. For more severe infections, your dose may be increased to 2 capsules (500 mg) every 6 hours.
