Description
Amoxiclav is an antibiotic and works by killing the bacteria that cause infections. It contains two different medicines called amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin belongs to a group of medicines called ‘penicillins’, which can sometimes be stopped (become inactive). The other active ingredient (clavulanic acid) does not allow this to happen.
Amoxiclav is used in adults and children to treat the following infections:
infections of the middle ear and sinuses
respiratory infections
urinary tract infections is
skin and soft tissue infections, including dental infections
bone and joint infections
