1. What Levoxa is and what it is used for
The name of your medicine is Levoxa tablets. Levoxa tablets contain a medicine called levofloxacin. It belongs to a group of medicines called antimicrobials. Levofloxacin is a “quinolone” antimicrobial. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infections in your body.
Levoxa tablets can be used to treat infections of:
• Sinus
• Lungs, in patients with prolonged breathing problems or pneumonia
• Urinary tract, including kidney or bladder Prostate, in case of permanent infection
• Skin and subcutaneous tissue, including muscle, sometimes called “soft tissue”
In some special cases, Levoxa can be used to prevent a lung disease called anthrax or to prevent the severe course of the disease if you have inhaled spores of the bacteria that cause anthrax.
